Privacy Policy

The Short Version

FileVue does not collect, transmit or sell any personal data. Every document you open is read and rendered on your device. There is no account system, no advertising SDK and no analytics SDK.

The app does hold the internet permission, used for exactly two things: showing this policy page inside the app, and the Google Play in-app review card when you tap Settings → Rate on Google Play. No document content is ever sent anywhere.

What the App Accesses

• Files on your device. FileVue asks for storage access so it can list and open the PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and text documents already on your device. Files are read only when you open them, and are never copied off the device.
• App settings. Your language, theme and layout choices are stored locally with DataStore.
• Bookmarks and recent files. The paths of documents you bookmark or open are stored in a local Room database so the Bookmarks and Recents tabs can show them. You can erase both at any time from Settings → Files.

All of this data stays in the app's private storage and is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data.

What the App Does Not Do

• No data leaves your device.
• No advertising, tracking, profiling or crash-reporting services are integrated.
• No data is shared with or sold to third parties.

Actions That Involve Other Apps

Sharing a document, sending feedback or opening a legacy .doc file hands off to another app you choose. Rating the app uses Google Play's in-app review card. Once control passes to another app or to Google Play, that party's own privacy policy applies.

Children

FileVue is a general-purpose document reader and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.

Changes

Any change to this policy will be published in this file in the app's public repository.
